Salary Schedule: 2024/25 Step 1 with a Bachelor's Degree: $50,500, Step 1 with a Master's Degree: $55,550
\r\n
Salary credit may be awarded for applicable experience. Placement on the salary schedule will follow the applicable negotiated agreement.

2025/26 Step 1 with a Bachelor's Degree: $51,200, Step 1 with a Master's Degree: $57,820

Position Purpose: Provides secondary engagement services, academic and school attendance support to assist students with navigating a path toward graduating high school.
\r\n
\r\n
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
\r\n
\r\n- Bachelor's Degree with a focus in education,
\r\n- Two years of previous work experience with youth
\r\n- Previous work experience in a multicultural setting
\r\n- Proficient in software applications including Windows, Office 365, Word, Excel, and Access preferred.
\r\n
\r\n
\r\n- Bilingual Language skills preferred
\r\n- Demonstrate proficiency of the English language to read and communicate with others
\r\n- Ability and patience to work interactively with students
\r\n- Excellent skills in verbal and written communication
\r\n- Ability to understand the individual needs of each student
\r\n- Displays a significant degree of professionalism and confidentiality
\r\n- Ability to conform to proper standards of professional dress and appearance
\r\n- Knowledge of OPS’s mission, purpose, goals and the role of every employee in achieving each of them
\r\n- Working knowledge of school District and community resources preferred
\r\n

Essential Performance Responsibilities
\r\n
\r\n- Monitors attendance and other student data and responds by communicating with students and families
\r\n- Manages a caseload of up to 30 students, providing attendance mentoring, check-ins, and support for accessing resources
\r\n- Communicates with families and other school support people on a regular basis.
\r\n- Conducts home visits to identify ways to support students and families in school attendance
\r\n- Builds connections with community support and opportunities for students.
\r\n- Communicates with students and families regarding school programs and supports, as well as student accomplishments and needs
\r\n- Seeks new and efficient ways to reach students and meet needs in high school resulting in dropout prevention
\r\n- Provides academic support to students as needed or appropriate.
\r\n- Leads and facilitates school attendance team including initiatives, recognition and data monitoring
\r\n- Provides professional development to staff to monitor and support student attendance
\r\n- Leads and facilitates the Student Assistance Team process for the school and responsibilities associated with this role
\r\n- Follows oral and written directions accurately
\r\n- May perform other related duties as assigned by supervisory personnel
\r\n

Additional Duties Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other office administrators as designated by the Superintendent. Performs other related tasks as assigned by the board of education through the Superintendent of Schools or the Trustees.

\r\n
Equipment: This position may require the ability to use basic office equipment such as computers, copiers, scanners, and fax machines. Must always comply with OPS’s guidelines for equipment use

Travel: Limited travel may be required

\r\n- Contact with personnel within the district and with customers and vendors
\r\n- Will be working under the direct supervision of the Principal or supervisory personnel in order to complete day-to-day tasks
\r\n- Will be working with a diverse population, requiring the ability to handle all situations with tact and diplomacy
\r\n- Must understand and respond appropriately to customer needs and maintain a positive attitude with all customers and colleagues
\r\n- Expected to interact with all internal and external customers in a friendly, professional manner and provide quick, responsive customer service

Employee Punctuality and Appearance
\r\n
\r\n- In order for schools to operate effectively, employees are expected to perform all assigned duties and work all scheduled hours during each designated workday, unless the employee has received approved leave.
\r\n- Any deviation from assigned hours must have prior approval from the employee’s supervisor or building administrator.
\r\n- All employees are required to report to work dressed in a manner that reflects a positive image of Omaha Public Schools and is appropriate for their position.

Terms of Employment

\r\n
This position is treated as a full-time exempt certified position. The terms of your employment will be governed by applicable state laws regulating employment or teaching in a Nebraska public school and Board of Education policies, as those laws and policies may change from time to time, and the Teacher Contract. If your position is represented by a collective bargaining representative, then your employment will also be governed by a negotiated agreement between OPS and that collective bargaining representative.

Terms of employment are contingent upon:
\r\n
\r\n- Verification of a valid Nebraska Teaching License or other required license.
\r\n- A background check which demonstrates background is acceptable for the position sought and working with or around students.
\r\n- Verification of U.S. Citizenship or legal authorization to work in the United States.
\r\n- Successful completion of a tuberculosis skin test (if required by federal law for your position).
\r\n- Execution and delivery to OPS of a Teacher Contract presented by OPS.
