A Brief Overview
Serves as the leader/advocate for Facility Services Department responsible for the coordination, operation and activities of plant operations maintenance and grounds. This includes, but is not limited to: water systems, heating/cooling systems & associated controls, emergency systems, pneumatic tube system, medical gas & air systems, the water treatment program and critical system documentation in order to accomplish organizational and departmental strategic goals and objectives. Coordinates services and provides leadership for designated area. Has 24 hour accountability for assigned area(s).
Essential Functions
- Defines operational standards, organizes department-level activities to achieve optimum service delivery/systems/care/processes, setting high performance objectives for the department. Holds self and others accountable to meet stated objectives, outcomes, goals, timetables and commitments, adhering to standards even in the face of unforeseen circumstances. Supervises daily activities of a team within their department, including providing guidance to employees as a working supervisor. Responsible for supervision of the Facility Services Department. Includes operation and maintenance of Childrens Hospital buildings, grounds, systems and equipment. Coverage includes the hospital and assigned facilities. Personnel Management Prioritizes and coordinates daily work activities. Provides leadership and guidance by sharing expertise with others. Approves schedules and monitors time worked. Trains and/or oversees the training of employees on job related tasks. Provides input to Department Director regarding employee performance management duties including completion and delivery of performance evaluations, setting goals, dissemination of information, coaching, addressing performance issues/routine correction actions, and recommending termination of employment. Provides input to Department Director regarding selection, hiring, and salary recommendations. Operational/Financial Management Ensures cost effective use of resources by identifying and implementing changes related to staff allocation and assignment, and patient/department supplies. Ensures compliance with quality assurance, safety practices, policies and recordkeeping standards. May assist with the development and maintenance of policies and procedures. May participate in the implementation of business plans for the area. May assist with annual budget by tracking expenses and providing input for future budget needs.
- Represents Facility Services on the Environment of Care Fire Safety and Utility Sub-Committee. Must be capable of assuming the role of Facility Leader in the event of a Code Triage. May be assigned to other leadership responsibilities within Support Services.
- Responsible for coordination of activity related to construction as necessary.
- Responsible for coordination of activity between facility services and the Call Center.

Education Qualifications
- Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university in maintenance or related field or equivalent work experience Required and
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in maintenance or related field Preferred
Experience Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years experience working in health care facilities Required and
- Minimum 2 years supervisory or lead experience Preferred
Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrate ability to develop and implement staff training programs.
- Demonstrate ability to operate within prescribed budget limitations.
- Demonstrate technical skills necessary to evaluate electro-mechanical and building maintenance problems, propose solutions and implement corrective actions.
Licenses and Certifications
- Current and valid 3rd Grade Engineers license Preferred
- Must have a valid drivers license with an acceptable motor vehicle driving record and ability to provide own transportation. Required
