This position oversees financial strategy, GAAP and statutory accounting, risk management, investment oversight, and regulatory compliance to ensure the company’s financial stability and success.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee a strong, experienced finance and accounting team that manages GAAP and statutory (SAP) accounting.

  • Work closely with the CEO, COO, CSMO, and VP of Claims to guide the overall strategic direction of the company.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with the General Counsel, Chief Actuary, Director of HR, and departmental leaders to align financial goals with business operations.

  • Maintain a strong relationship with the Board of Directors and provide the Board with insight and information regarding financial matters.

  • Serve as the spokesperson for the company with key external financial business partners and rating entities.

  • Lead financial planning, budgeting, and reporting to optimize profitability.

  • Ensure compliance with NAIC, state insurance departments, ratings agencies, and workers' compensation regulations.

  • Drive data-driven financial decisions that support business growth and operational excellence.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A strong, confident executive with a leadership style that is open, friendly, and collaborative.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing, about complex technical matters and to establish and manage strong business relationships.
  • An aptitude for tactical and strategic thinking in addition to technical expertise in finance and accounting.
  • Experience in at least some of the following: FP&A, insurance, investments, debt, statutory accounting, surplus notes, alternate financing structures, or captive entities.
  • Ability to rapidly master the areas mentioned above in which the candidate is not currently experienced.
